LINCOLN

The historical city of Lincoln is in Lincolnshire, within the East Midlands of England and it has a population of around 100,000.  Lincoln developed from the Roman town of Lindum Colonia and the major landmarks include Lincoln Cathedral, a fine example of English Gothic architecture, and Lincoln Castle, an 11th-century Norman castle.  Indie-Lincs will take place on the University of Lincoln campus in the Lincoln Arts Centre (LAC) during February and films will screen in the main auditorium (400+ seater with a huge screen) with events also taking place in other venues.  We look forward to welcoming successfully shortlisted films and their filmmakers to our beautiful city.

Lincoln’s central location allows for access from a number of airports with European and international flights.  

Lincoln is within striking distance of several other major cities including London, Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield, York and Leeds, with good rail and road links. Lincoln is approximately 140 miles north of London. 

 

HOW TO GET HERE

 

From NOTTINGHAM/EAST MIDLANDS AIRPORT

There is a direct train From Nottingham to Lincoln.

Nottingham Train Station is a short bus journey from East Midlands Airport.

 

From LONDON/HEATHROW AIRPORT

Trains from London to Lincoln leave from London Kings Cross Station.

From Heathrow, the most practical way is to go from Heathrow to London Kings Cross first.

 

DRIVING

Road access is via the A1 with intersections at Newark (A46) from the South and near Retford (A57) from the North. The city is 40 miles east of Nottingham on the A46.
